Herbal Weight Loss Review
While the interest in herbal weight loss supplements is not a bad thing, it has meant that the market has become flooded with them and consumers are often in a position where they do not know what supplement they should take. The most recent of this group comes from Africa and unofficial tests have proved interesting but Hoodia Gordonni, as it is more commonly known, is a rare and expensive method of stopping the pangs of hunger. Apparently, it tricks the brain into thinking blood glucose levels are normal thus suppressing the body’s natural response to low blood sugar which is the sensation of hunger and while this sounds promising, long term weight loss studies are required.
Most people are aware of the properties of caffeine which is the main ingredient of Guarana, the plant of which originates in Brazil but it also works as a diuretic as well. Its side effects outweigh its efficacy as an herbal weight loss supplement with some potentially negative effects like high blood pressure, nausea, dizziness and anxiousness for example.
Dandelion is another diuretic (it makes you urinate more frequently) and while side effects are relatively harmless, allergic reactions have been reported. While it is very effective at reducing the amount of fluid in the body, this herbal supplement is not designed to be used on daily basis.
In an effort to maintain a healthy system many natural weight loss products use cascara, an herbal laxative which helps expel unwanted and unhealthy toxins from the body. Just because it is marketed as an herbal weight control supplement doesn’t make it any better and its overuse can cause depletion in vital nutrients.
Green tea on the other hand has become very popular in the last few years as of all the herbal weight loss products available, it has many benefits and can be found in a number of vitamin supplements, drinks tat supply energy and it can also be purchased I tablet form as well. Healthy eating and exercise play a large part in weight loss but studies have shown that green tea does help when used as part of this weight control regime.
Despite the large sums of money spent by people on natural weight loss products, there is still little proof that they are effective in the long term. A few products containing Hoodia are being sold for close to 50 dollars for a one month supply so you would be forgiven in thinking that the only weight loss that can be expected is more evident in our wallets than around our belly. Ultimately, there is no more promise in the herbal weight loss supplement than there is in any miracle in a bottle and while a few may offer a bit of assistance when trying to lose weight; herbal supplements will not work when used without a healthy weight loss plan.
