Different Ways To Solve Acne Problems

February 12th, 2010

Puberty has come and gone, but why do you still have acne? If you’re over the age of 25 and you still have pimples, zits, blackheads, and others, then don’t puberty is not the culprit anymore. Getting rid of your acnes isn’t as simple as sounds. You might want to prevent it first, which will need full commitment on your part.

To start with, you need to get a healthy lifestyle. Clear out the toxins from your body by eating non-greasy foods, avoiding alcoholic and caffeinated drinks, and drinking lots of water. Also, try to adapt a regular workout schedule and avoid stress. Smoking also clogs our pores and adds toxins in our body, so that should be one of the list of things you should avoid doing. And of course, apply good hygiene.

But what if you already have acne? You can keep acnes from happening, but for those who have already infested your face and body, there are still things that you can do.

You can try topical products, but they only eliminate the problem temporarily. Not that they’re useless, in fact, most acne dries out fast with over-the-counter products. Medicines that contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid may be used in mild to moderate cases of acne. You can also hear other people swearing by natural remedies. Honey, oatmeal, ginger, and even ice are said to dry out acnes.

However, if you have serious acne case, topical products are not enough.

Acute acne cases should be treated internally. As topical creams or gels can’t kill the source of the problem. Oral antibiotics may help those who suffer from serious acne problems. But oral medicines, such as those containing erythromycin or any of the tetracycline antibiotics, may have side effects. Consult a skin doctor before taking any oral medicines.

For women, acnes may be a frequent monthly thing. Their menstrual period may affect their hormonal level, causing their glands’ oil secretion. For some, taking oral contraceptives help in balancing their hormonal levels, thus helping clear out acnes.

Clearing out acnes has no perfect answer. What works for others may not work for some. But whatever measure you choose, taking a healthy lifestyle won’t hurt.

Dr. Komathy offers acne clearing among many others. Other aesthetic concerns such as breast augmentation is also available at The Lifestyle Clinic. This and other unique content ‘hair loss’ articles are available with free reprint rights.
