Bariatric surgery is performed under general anesthesia and generally takes one to four hours, depending on the particular kind of surgery you require. Some time after surgery you will be able to return to a normal life. But immediately after the surgery your diet will be severely restricted, consisting of mainly clear broths and dramatically reduced juices. Great Tips For Fat Loss

November 25th, 2009

Holidays are just around the corner, turkey and dressing and all of the pies. If you start now then you can get a head start on weight loss and not feel so guilty later.

Now I know the first thing most people tell you to do is cut out all junk food and fast food. I am here to tell you that you not only don’t have to but shouldn’t. Cutting out all of your favorite foods only makes you want them more. Here is the key: if you go to a burger place then only order the burger and skip the fries. In other words just eat a little less than you normally would when you go out.

While three meals a day is a good idea, I would suggest more small meals. This will help you to not feel as hungry when you sit down to eat and help to keep you from over eating and feeling stuffed. It will also give you more energy and help to boost your metabolism. Natural weight loss is really all about boosting you metabolism. Without that you won’t get far.

Exercise is probably the one biggest factor. Now you don’t need special machines or to spend several hours a day in a gym. If you are like me you will pay for these things and never use them. A stair climber is nice if you can afford one. These work your legs and really get your heart pumping.

Personally I prefer to do sit ups and leg lifts on my bed. It’s better for you back like that also. One very good exercise for your lower abs is front leg lifts. Lie on your back and raise both legs up at the same time and lower almost to the bed. Do as many of these as you can.

Having someone to help you stay on track is also a good idea. Or maybe even just a pair of nice jeans you want to be able to fit into. While having a goal is important it is just as important to make sure it is realistic. You simply can’t expect to see results over night or even in a couple weeks time. It may take a month or more to really see a difference because you have to raise your metabolism first and the start to lose weight.

By following these tips I lost 4 jean sizes. I know you can do it to; there’s no better time to start than today!

That’s why you should stick with a proven weight loss program such as Burnt the Fat Feed the Muscle which was written by a fitness specialist.

How Long will one be Out of Work after having Lap Band Surgery?

November 25th, 2009

Many people who have weight loss surgery will do so to not only lose weight, but to improve their overall health and well being. One popular weight loss surgery is lap band surgery. They often will have the surgery to reduce such health conditions as sleep apnea, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, breathing problems, and heart conditions. Lap band surgery will help them lose the weight and keep it off.

When having lap band surgery, an inflatable gastric band is inserted into the stomach where a band is placed around the upper part of the stomach. A small stomach pouch and passageway is created which limited food intake and causes one to feel full. The result is a loss of weight. Adjustment of the band is done adding or removing saline into the pouch. The size of the band depends on one’s particular weight loss needs and their health requirements. Lap band surgery is a safe and non invasive weight loss surgery with a general recovery period.

After lap band surgery, most people return to work within 2-3 days. Your surgeon will determine when you can return to your regular daily activities, however, most people go back to their regular routines 7-10 days after surgery. Lap band surgery is the least invasive weight loss surgery. There is no stapling or cutting of the small bowel or stomach wall, and there is not any intestinal re-routing. As well, there are very small incisions and minimal scarring. Pain is minimal and the hospital stay is short. The surgery can easily be reversed at any time and the stomach will restore to its regular form.

There are also fewer risks associated with lap band surgery. For instance, adjustments are performed without further surgery, there is a decreased risk of muscle mass and hair loss, reduced risk of nutritional deficiencies, and there is no “dumping syndrome” associated with nutritional intake limitations.

After one has lap band surgery, they will only have to spend a couple of hours recovering in the hospital. When they are sent home, they will be given instructions on care and diet, including what they can eat, in what form, and how much they can eat at a time. They will also have a number of check ups with their physician.

Does Blood Flow Dictate How Much Arm Flab You Can Lose?

November 24th, 2009

Figuring out how to lose arm flab can be difficult if you don’t know what you are doing. And key to getting fast results is improving blood flow or circulation.

Why? Because your body does not directly burn arm flab in your arms. Instead, it breaks down the flab in your arms and then transports the units elsewhere. It’s at this elsewhere where the flab is finally burned for good.

Therefore, improving your circulation or blood flow allows for a speedier transportation and oxidation of your arm flab. And there are more benefits here. For instance, most things you do to improve blood flow also increase the amount of calories you burn.

Thus, here is how to lose arm flab by improving circulation and blood flow:

1. Become and early bird. Exercising earlier in the day will do wonders for your arm flab. Not only will you burn more calories for the rest of the day, but you’ll also increase blood flow for the rest of the day. You see, exercise releases certain hormones that will help get the blood moving.

2. Don’t be so sedentary. When you sit for extended periods of time, blood flow gets interrupted because there is so much pressure on your ischial tuberosities. The best way to prevent this is to begin working from the standing position.

3. Stick to unsaturated fats. And stay away from trans fats and saturated fats. These two types of fat will make figuring out how to lose arm flab a nightmare. Unsaturated fats on the other hand, increase blood flow and increase the rate of arm fat burning.

4. Limit sugar. Not only does it have a lot of calories, but it also degrades the lining of your arteries. And less healthy arteries translate into less blood flow. Not good if you want to lose arm flab!

If you really want to lose arm flab, increasing blood flow will be a step in the right direction. After all, blood flow plays a critical role in how much fat your body burns. And the more fat you burn, the faster you will get lean and sexy arms.

Regarded writer and entrepreneur, Katherine Crawford M.S., a Harvard exercise expert and recent arm fat refugee, shows women how to tone arms. Unearth how to get sexy and toned arms by exploring her personal website about fat arms as soon as possible!
