Aim for 5 small meals spaced throughout the day. Your day should look something like this: Breakfast Mid-morning snack Lunch Mid-afternoon snack Dinner

It is important to plan your meals ahead of time as well as know when you will be training that day so that you can have appropriate pre and post workout snacks available.

Water is essential to life, yet so many of us do not drink enough throughout the day. Dont wait until you are feeling thirsy because often your body will already be dehydrated. It is important to build up to increasing your water intake and not guzzle it in one go. Be gently on your kidneys! Keep a water bottle by your desk or in your car etc., as a reminder to sip throughout the day.

Are you putting too much on your plate? Are you putting the same amount of food on your plate as someone much bigger than you? Food portions have become so supersized that often forget what a correct portion should be. For example, a piece of protein like chicken breast as a general rule should be only about the size of your fist!

Losing weight and getting fit is not about going without the things we enjoy, its about consuming them in moderation. Alcohol is full of calories that our bodies do not need and is a big contributor to obesity. So re-think your drink!

Losing weight and being in shape for life is not supposed to make you miserable. It is important to have treats when you are really craving them, just do so in small amounts and take the time to enjoy it.
