Break Bad Habits And Reach Goals Using The Power Of Self Hypnosis

January 30th, 2010

Is self hypnosis effective? Do you have goals you want reach? Are you interested in improving yourself? Can I really break those bad habits? To the answers to these and other self hypnosis questions read further.

Self hypnosis is usually thought of as a person listening to some type of mass-produced media, intended to induce a willingness to absorb suggestions centered around a specific topic such as weight loss, stop smoking, etc. Unfortunately, this kind of hypnosis is generally taught by someone who has never met the person being self hypnotized.

For example, if you sunburn easily, that last thing you want to hear about is a slow walk on a sunny beach. In this case, the “self” in self hypnosis simply means that you listen to it by yourself. How do you incorporate self improvement to hypnosis? To be able to go about self improvement, there are certain aspects in you that should be addressed. Using hypnosis, the negative aspects that are serving as hindrances to improvement must be eliminated.

A true self hypnosis would necessarily be designed and created by the very person who will ultimately use and benefit from it. Unlike the mass-produced hypnosis, this hypnosis is made for the exact purpose the person wishes, including the precise words and phrases that mean the most to that particular person.

The true self hypnosis is thus crafted by the person to suit his or her own needs. The benefits derived could only be accomplished with such a personal, one-of-a-kind hypnosis. In this case, the “self” in self hypnosis really means what it says.

Below is a brief view of the self hypnotic process. Though lots of variations of this method have been used, these are the basic steps you have to go through in order to hypnotize yourself to accomplish your self improvement goals.

1. Position your goals from the most important goal to the less important. If possible, your goals should be measurable.

2. For each goal, you should formulate fitting suggestions which means you have to convert your goals into specific instructions to your subconscious mind on how to achieve each goal you want to reach.

3. Relaxation. Use the first minutes of your self hypnotic session to get as relaxed as possible. Try to forget all your worries and problems.

4. Start your hypnotic initiation phase by saying and repeating out loud the hypnotic words you have chosen, thinking of these words or listening to a hypnotic tape or CD customized for your hypnotic needs.

Before you start up your self hypnotic exercises you should make a time schedule for it. Do your hypnotic sessions every day, five minutes a day is enough. Repeat your suggestions as often as possible during the day. Measure your progress. Are you closer to your goal now than you were before you started? Ask yourself.

If you answer negative to these questions, you have to rethink and reorganize your train of thoughts. This is the only way you can find out if this method is really helping you in achieving your self improvement goals. If you desire more help. There are many good sites out there. I suggestamazing hypnosis resources. Self improvement is now a goal that’s obtainable.

End Your Soda Habit With These Healthy Drinks

December 17th, 2009

I love the carbonation that a soda gives me. It feels crisp and refreshing going down my throat, and it quenches my thirst more effectively than anything else it seems.

The sweetness of soda can’t be beaten in my mind. Some of my favorites, like cream soda, give me just the right amount, and a unique sense of satisfaction. As I get older, though, I fully acknowledge the fact that it’s a habit I’d be better off putting an end to.

Aside from the fact that it causes cavities, too much soda can also make you excessively tired. Many point to sodas as a leading cause of diabetes too. It was time for me to make a change, and that’s exactly what I’ve done.

Try out any of the following drinks that I’m about to discuss for a change. While you may not enjoy them as much as you like your soda, I think you’ll come to appreciate the benefits that you enjoy over time.

A simple alternative to soda is club soda. Free of any sugars or artificial substances, it also has no calories. The carbonation gives it a similar feel to that of soda, and there’s really nothing bad about drinking it as far as your health is concerned.

If you seek a little more flavor, opt for a carbonated fruit drink. There are plenty of these, and the key will be to get one that’s completely natural. One brand that you may enjoy is Fizzy Lizzy, as their brand of sparkling juice drinks has no additives and tastes great.

If neither of these drinks sounds appealing to you, why not opt for something more serene, like a green tea? This will give you a small amount of caffeine that others won’t, and the herbal qualities of the drink make many feel calm and relaxed. There are plenty of document health benefits to green tea, including the antioxidants you’ll find in the drink.

Any one of the above drinks in place of soda will have a profoundly positive impact on your life. Are you ready to make a change?

Are You Digesting What You Eat?

November 23rd, 2009

When I first started studying nutrition and natural healing, the saying was, Death begins in the colon. Now, with more research it is more correctly said that death begins with bad digestion. In fact the cure of disease really begins with better nutrition and more efficient ways to combine those nutrients. Why?

First of all lets talk why proper foods and the right combinations make all the difference, especially when a person shows symptoms of disease.

We can say digestion begins in the mouth; and actually, that process starts with what the nose smells. Think of what happens when you smell turkey cooking. Your mouth begins to salivate, right? Salivary amylase in the mouth begins the breakdown of carbohydrates. That process, with carbohydrates should be completed in the small intestine.

So then, we can say digestion begins in the mouth; and actually, that process starts with what the nose smells. Think of what happens when you smell turkey cooking. Your mouth begins to salivate, right? Salivary amylase in the mouth begins the breakdown of carbohydrates. That process, with carbohydrates is completed in the small intestine.

So then, carbohydrates begin digesting in the mouth. The chewing process of proteins alerts the stomach to begin creating hydrochloric acid, imperative in the digestion of proteins. When HCL is at a low, something that happens to most people as they age, then the other component in digesting proteins, pepsinogen wont work properly.

The process of digesting proteins takes several hours and will only be confused if sugars, fats and carbohydrates like breads are in the mix. So depressing, people with poor digestion should never eat sandwiches.

The small intestine is the major digestive organ in the body. It begins at the pyloric sphincter, a valve-like gate way leading from the stomach to the duodenum, the first section of the small intestine, and ends at the ileocecal valve. If foods have been combined correctly there will be less stress in the duodenum.

Small bits of food at a time are digested in the duodenum, the first segment of the small intestine. The pyloric sphincter, the gatekeeper between the stomach and the small intestine only allows small amounts in at a time so that the digestive juices, enzymes produced by the pancreas and the liver have ample time to be produced, meet in the hepatopancreatic duct, travel to the duodenum through the hepatopancreatic ampulla.

Why is all of this important to good health and the healing process? Once food begins to sit too long in any area of the GI tract it begins a process called putrefaction. This is the beginning of disease and the acid conditions in the body that cause every disease. When food is combined properly, when nutrition is readily available from the food we eat, then healing can happen, cell regeneration occurs and creativity flows.

The assimilating factor in the small intestine, which spans the many feet of the small intestine is aided by the finger-like projections called villi and micro-villi, is slowed immeasurably when the body gets bogged down with days old undigested waste. The body begins starving for nutrition and the aging process accelerates. Over many years, illness sets in and the body will most likely be overweight.

Medicine may suppress the body response, which is really an alarm that something is wrong and needs the owners attention but the underlying cause is still there. The underlying cause is bad digestion.

The assimilating factor in the small intestine, which spans the many feet of the small intestine is aided by the finger-like projections called villi and micro-villi, and is slowed immeasurably when the body gets bogged down with days old undigested waste. Aging occurs at a more rapid pace after years of this abuse because the body is starving for nutrition and tired.

What to do? How do you turn around the trend of bad health? Eat mostly fruits and vegetables, use a juicer and eat food in combinations that ease the work load of the digestive system.

Why You Should Be Eating Nuts

November 2nd, 2009

Nuts are tasty, loaded with good fat, protein, fiber, nutrients and phytochemicals that are heart healthy and potentially good for the waistline. Barring allergies, there aren’t many reasons not to include nuts in your diet. Let’s take a look at some interesting studies, tips and tidbits about nuts.

Nuts and the Heart

A study of 31000 Seventh Day Adventists that ate nuts more than 4 times per week were half as likely to die of a heart attack than those who ate nuts less than once a week. The Iowa Women’s Health Study came to a similar conclusion: Women who ate nuts or seeds 4 times per week were 40% less likely to die from heart disease than similar women who didn’t eat nuts. The Nurses’ Health Study showed that those who ate at least 140g/week of nuts were 35% less likely to be diagnosed with heart disease than those who ate less than 30g/month. Nuts and Weight

Most studies have shown that adding nuts to the diet does not cause people to gain much weight, if any at all. As an example, researchers gave participants 45-70g of almonds every day (320 calories worth) and gave them no further instructions about food intake. After 6 months, participants gained a very miniscule amount of weight (.2 lbs in women, 1.4 lbs in men). This study was funded by the almond industry.

There aren’t many studies that show nut consumption to help people lose weight, but one study showed that a low calorie diet that included almonds led to greater weight loss than an equal calorie diet that did not include almonds.

The Seventh Day Adventist and Nurses Health Study showed that those who regularly ate nuts weighed less than those who did not.

The Best Nuts

Are some nuts better than others when it comes to health benefits? All nuts contain good fats, fiber and proteins, but different kinds of nuts have different nutrient profiles.

Almonds are richest in vitamin E (35% recommended daily intake) and calcium (8%) per 1 oz. (30g) serving. Brazil nuts are highest in selenium with just 1 supplying a days worth. Cashews are richest in copper and zinc Peanuts (technically a legume) contain the antioxidant resveratrol, and are highest in protein and arginine content Walnuts have the most alpha linolenic acids (plant-based omega-3’s) How much?

Nuts are healthy but are a dense source of calories. 1oz/30g of nuts supply about 170-180 calories. Here is a chart that shows how many nuts are in 30g.

Number of Nuts in 30 grams (1oz)

Almonds: 20-24 Brazil nuts: 6-8 Pecans: 18-20 (halves) Cashews: 16-18 Pine Nuts: 150-157 Pistachios: 45-47 Walnuts: 8-11 Hazelnuts: 18-20

How To Diet, and Stick To It

Dieting – 8 Secrets to Success

Dieting success depends on making one or more small changes that produce a big impact. There are quite a few Fad diets that are here one second and gone the next, but the basics of weight loss always stay the same. In order to lose weight, more calories must be used than are consumed. There are other reasons to diet other then weight loss, but it doesn’t matter if your objective is it to lose weight or to become healthy, the two often go hand in hand, and these 8 secrets will get you there.

* You control the environment, don’t let it control you

Eating the right foods is easier when temptation is controlled. You can keep temptation out of the house by simply not allowing bad foods into the house. It is important to stay away from the places that tempt you to eat poorly, when your not at home stay away from these places. If pastries just drive you nuts, try to brew your own coffee at home so that you wont have to go into the bakery in the morning to get your fix.

*Change the small habits

Small food choice changes often have a huge impact. There are hundreds of unnoticeable, tiny changes that can be made to anyone’s diet. For example, Vitamin D milk has more then twice the amount of calories as skim milk. Trying to drinking skim milk instead of whole milk is a great way to save a ton of calories almost effortlessly. If you had one glass of milk every single day, which many of us do, switching from vitamin D to 0% fat milk can save almost 30k worth of calories every single year. This translates into over eight pounds worth of calories that do not have to be used or stored as fat.

*Try not to stray, be diligent

Eat when you are hungry. One can really learn a lot about hunger by not immediately feeding themselves when it starts to arise, try waiting an our or two before eating. Its important to experience hunger and to learn to cope with it appropriately, this will help to ensure dieting gains. Decrease the speed that you eat, slowing down and enjoying each morsel is important. Think about whether each swallow is helping your diet. If consuming a particular food will be detrimental to success, make the conscious decision to either reject it or indulge in a small amount.

* Exercise Restraint with portions

It is more important to watch the portions consumed when dieting than the type of food consumed. Weighing your food is a great way to watch your intake and portion size. Use a small plate at meals. Take only one helping and avoid returning for seconds. Keep half of your dinner for lunch leftovers tomorrow. If you are going to eat at a restaurant, try asking for a box to go at the beginning of the meal. Half of the meal should be put into a container, cover it, and put it out of sight.

* Exercise

The benefits of exercise while dieting are well known. with exercise a person will speed up their bodies metabolism, it will cause them to crave less foods, and it will distract them from the temptations of bad foods. Make the routine of exercising your body an everyday occurrence. Try to walk whenever you get chance, you can even wear a Pedometer to keep track of how many steps you’ve taken. Work for around 10k steps each and every day.

* Make smart decisions

Keep your mind on delicious, nutritious foods, and stay far away from empty calories. When able, eat good for you foods. For instance, rather than reaching for a diet soda choose ice water with lemon instead. While it may take time to become accustomed to these changes, over time they will pay off handsomely.

* Be watchful of what is in foods

Have an idea of how much a portion is. A single can or package usually contains multiple servings. Try and be careful of items that are labeled as low fat or low calorie, more often then not it is a ruse, and they are simply loaded with sugar or sodium. Reading every label will give you a much better idea of how much you are allowed to have, and how many calories it will cost you.

* Try to be nice to yourself

Sleep is very important, make sure that you get enough. Being overtired can lead to increased food cravings and weakness when facing temptation. Dont be to hard on yourself. Gorging yourself during one meal is no reason to give up on your diet and yourself. There is always a new day on the horizon, and a brand to chance to be successful in dieting!
