June 15th, 2010

As a Certified Nutrition Specialist, I usually shock people with this fact… it’s true that there is a type of healthy natural trans fat that actually helps you to burn off abdominal fat. Sounds far fetched, but it’s true. First of all, as I’m sure you’ve heard a million times by now, artificial trans fats in our food supply from hydrogenated oils are one of the most unhealthy foods (if you can actually call it suitable to eat) you can put in your body.

The importance of your Diet: Your diet is an important part of your fat burn process. Unfortunately, most of us aren’t nutritionist. Fortunately, the writer of the Truth About Abs is not just a nutritionist, but a really good one as well. Most nave readers will become mini experts about nutrition once they are done reading this book. The disadvantages, for instance, of skipping meals during the day and how it affects us will become clearer.

You will also gain an increased understanding on the various available food types and the kind of meals which should be eaten and those that should be avoided. Factors such as the calorie count of a meal and its glycemic index will become a lot clearer. And with all these new learnt information at your disposal, you will be able to ensure that your eating habits incorporate only the right ones.

This specific type of natural trans fat actually occurs in the meat and milk from ruminant animals such as cattle, goats, sheep, venison, bison, kangaroo, etc. It is called conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), and is not only known to help prevent cancer, but is also a potent fat burner.

CLA is highest when these animals are grass-fed instead of grain-fed. Now before you think that you can just buy the CLA supplements that you’ll see most supplement stores selling… WARNING: Do not buy CLA supplements! The only form of healthy CLA is from grass-fed ruminant animals such as grass-fed beef, bison, lamb, etc. The CLA that’s found in CLA pills is an artificially created form that is a different isomer than the natural CLA isomer found in grass-fed meat or dairy. The CLA isomer in the pills is NOT a healthy form, and will not benefit you.

Readers of The Truth about Abs are slowly though about this, providing them with invaluable insight into the various functions of their body. Ultimately, by being familiar with the process behind how our body functions, you will find it a lot easier to plan your workout during the day.

May 30th, 2010

Let’s face it… constructing muscle isn’t the easiest factor to accomplish even despite regular hard workout schedules and trying each type of workout and supplement. I struggled for years to achieve any significant muscle mass, but through the years in my personal coaching business and with my own experimentation have discovered some essential things which have helped make vital muscle beneficial properties doable even for hardgainers. The importance of weight lifting for women should not be underestimated. If done properly they can be a successful athlete or an bodybuilder, apart from this weight lifting for women is now recognized to be an essential part of any fitness regimen and now weight lifting has gained incredible popularity over the last decade or so, and socially it’s perfectly acceptable for women to take up weight lifting as a sport.

higher body horizontal press (bench press, pushups, dips), higher physique horizontal rows (1-arm dumbbell rows, seated cable rows, bent over barbell rows), upper physique vertical pull (lat pulldowns, pullups, chinups), higher physique vertical press (overhead dumbbell and barbell presses, barbell or kettlebell clear & presses) decrease physique squatting movements (entrance squats, back squats, overhead squats, body weight squats, etc) lower physique deadlifting movements (regular deadlifts, sumo deadlifts, Romanian deadlifts) lower body single leg movements (lunges, step-ups, soar lunges, and so forth) abdominal and core workouts (these are essential, but nonetheless are 2nd priority after all of the main upper body and lower physique multi-joint movements… your abs and core will probably be worked from most major multi-joint workouts anyway)

The primary thing, which is necessary before weight lifting, is warm up before starting your workout. Do warm up at least for 15 to 25 minutes before getting started. One more thing, which is very much important before weight lifting, is to stretch all your muscles, that will be used in the routine.

It is better to start with strength development and the important thing is to learn the proper technique of weight lifting because without proper technique one can hurt themselves and cause serious damage. Once you got the technique then you can start with heavy weights.

As you curl up, rotate your forearm so that your palm is facing up at the top of the movement. You should feel a strong tightening in your bicep.

What You Must Know About Losing Weight

March 28th, 2010

If you want to get rid of excess bodyfat that you have right now the only way to do so and sustain it for life is to have 3 major components in your program. Marketers will tell you otherwise, but you need a good resistance training plan to build muscle, a cardiovascular part to lose fat, and a solid diet program. We can’t get around this fact. If a program is being sold and does not have these three things in some way or another it’s a waste of money. Some programs, like the most popular and best ones will have resistance training and cardio training in the same workout by doing high intense resistance training and circuit training.

Most people think that they need to simply starve themselves for a couple of days in order to lose fat, or worse, they will do thousands of crunches and ab workouts in hopes of getting rid of some belly fat. It won’t happen.

In reality, you should be doing 2-3 times of resistance training per week in order to build more metabolically expensive muscle tissue. The more you have the better. A good example is bodyweight training circuits or super-sets… Another is the classic bodybuilding split with the intention of building muscle and not lose fat. Either way is fine, as long as you do additional cardio with your muslcebuilding program.

Any program that says lose 1-2 pounds per week through diet only is 100% unsustainable about 100% of the time. Seriously. Nobody can underfuel their body for life… And once you start eating normal again you want to go back to your old habits and since you have lose fat and muscle you have a lower metabolic rate than before and therefore gain back more fat from your normal diet.

If you did not know, then I will tell you now that a raised metabolism is more important than calories burned during workout. So that means the after effects of a workout is many times more important than the actual workout you do. Short intense 15-20 minutes beat out 60 minutes of “traditional cardio” many times over…

So my tip to you is to find a fat loss program that works both your diet and your exercise. It should never be only a diet, trust me, once you get on a “real program” and follow it you’ll find amazing success in just 12-16 weeks.
